一、课程性质与目的;
    本课程是以外语教学理论为指导,以英语语言知识与应用技能、跨文化交际和学习策略为主要内容,并集多种教学模式和教学手段为一体的教学体系。本课程为了提高学生的英语实际运用和实践能力,面向全校所有专业学生开设的公共选修课。依托现代电脑技术,旨在提高学生的英语语言实际运用能力,培养学生全面素质,扩展与完善学生的知识结构。该课程的教学目标是为基础较好的学生创造发展的空间基础,培养学生的英语综合应用能力,特别是听说能力,保证学生在整个大学期间的英语语言水平稳步提高,有利于学生个性化的学习,以满足他们各自不同专业的发展需要,使他们在今后学习、工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行交际,同时增强其自主学习能力,提高综合文化素养,以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要,同时使那些英语起点水平较高、学有余力的学生英语水平能够达到大学英语教学大纲的更高要求。
二、课程简介
    本课程以学生通过大学英语四级为基本条件,本着更进一步提高学生英语综合水平的宗旨,以大学英语六级教学要求为基准,主要讲授第三版《大学英语精读6》,辅以《大学英语听说教程6》、《大学英语阅读教程6》和《大学英语•快速阅读教程6》,从听说读写译几个方面出发,通过充分利用现代信息技术,采用立体的多媒体教学和传统的面授教学相结合的方式,传授语言知识与技能,更注重培养学生语言实际应用能力和自主学习能力的培养,为学生参加大学英语六级考试提供必要的有益的指导和帮助,同时通过多种阅读,使学生拓宽知识、了解世界文化,掌握跨文化交际的技巧,使英语真正成为一门有用的工具,为学生将来从事的专业服务。
三、教学内容
Unit 1  Street Trees(8学时)
Objectives:
1 .Grasp the main idea the structure of the text;
2. Appreciate the various techniques employed by the writer
3. Master key language points and grammatical structures in the text;
4. Conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking, writing and translating activities related to the theme of the unit.

四、教学基本要求
    本课程主要是针对英语基础较好的学生所进行的提高式后续学习,希望通过一学期的学习,学生能在英语听说读写译方面有一个全面的提高,真正做到学以致用,将英语作为一门工具,为我所用。具体要求如下:
1. 听力理解能力:能基本听懂英语国家的广播电视节目,掌握其中心大意,抓住要点。能听懂英语国家人士正常语速的谈话。能听懂用英语讲授的专业课程和英语讲座。
2. 口语表达能力:能较为流利、准确地就一般或专业性话题进行对话或讨论,能用简练的语言概括篇幅较长、有一定语言难度的文本或讲话,能在国际会议和专业交流中宣读论文并参加讨论。
3. 阅读理解能力:能读懂有一定难度的文章,理解其主旨大意及细节,能阅读国外英语报刊杂志上的文章,能比较顺利地阅读所学专业的英语文献和资料。
4. 书面表达能力:能用英语撰写所学专业的简短的报告和论文,能以书面形式比较自如地表达个人的观点,能在半小时内写出不少于200词的说明文或议论文,思想表达清楚,内容丰富,文章结构清晰,逻辑性强。
5. 翻译能力:能借助词典翻译所学专业的文献资料和英语国家报刊上有一定难度的文章,能翻译介绍中国国情或文化的文章。译文内容准确,基本无错译、漏译,文字通顺达意,语言表达错误较少。
本课程多媒体自主学习内容的量应不少于理论教学时数的20%,主要安排在听说和各单元有关知识点内容上,自主学习不占上课学时,但教师必须检查和辅导。
    在每个单元结束之后,要布置一定量的书面作业:如每两周一篇作文和翻译练习(可交替进行),定期检查学生撰写的读书报告,旨在加大学生的课外阅读量,拓宽学生的知识面。
    学生按时完成教师布置的任务,课前认真做好预习和课后复习,学会自主学习。
    学生按时上课,不能无缘无故旷课,不能迟到、早退。
五、教学方法
    本课程采用教师讲解、Pair work, writing workshop, free-writing, jigsaw-reading, oral presentation,课堂讨论、老师点评、课堂测验,学生课后练习写作翻译等形式,充分利用现代信息技术,采用基于计算机和课堂的英语教学模式,适当选用时文报刊阅读,时事新闻资料片段,著名政治家的演讲等训练听力,或观摩,体现英语教学实用性、知识性和趣味性相结合的原则,有利于调动教师和学生两个方面的积极性,以增强课堂的吸引力,激发学生的学习兴趣。
    本课程采用的教学媒体主要有:文字教材(包括主教材和学习指导书)、音像教材(光盘)、课件(包括主讲老师对全书的系统讲授,还有重要内容的文字提示与电子教学幻灯片)。
     考试主要采用笔试的形式,外加topic discussion ,以此考察学生的语言表达能力。
     习题作业安排:英语各种文体写作;每次有20-30分钟的听力训练或观摩;欣赏精彩演讲等;
     总评成绩:平时作业占30%、课堂表现和出勤占20%、期末考试占50%。

七、本课程与其它课程的联系与分工
    本课程是一门面向全校学生的英语语言综合实践课程。依托现代电脑技术,旨在通过多项训练, 提高学生用英语进行思维,听说,阅读,写作翻译的综合能力,是大学英语知识的具体运用,能巩固既有知识,进一步提高学生的综合语言运用能力特别是听说能力,培养学生全面素质。
